ABOUT US

Ställa (born 2017), my partner's female Jamboree, quietly and naturally snuck into our group – and stayed. With her calm, clear demeanor, she brings stability to the pack and often works in the background, but always with a keen sense of purpose. Ställa isn't one to push herself into the foreground – she's simply there. And that's precisely what makes her so special.

Moro (born 2018) is a little fighter with a big heart – blind in one eye and turned into a biter out of fear. Today, Moro is allowed to live safely with us and start his new life with confidence. Every day, he shows us how much courage a little dog can contain.

Rya (born 2022), our energetic Alaskan Malamute, loves exercise and mental challenges. With her zest for life and stamina, she brings a breath of fresh air to the team—and demonstrates the importance of species-appropriate exercise. She reminds us how wonderful pure joy in life can be.

Trix (born 2017) This brave stray came to us straight from the streets of Spain—and into our hearts. Because of his diabetes, no one wanted him. He is priceless to us. With his calm demeanor, he brings balance and warmth to our pack.

Iwar came to us completely unexpectedly. He was born in Mallorca in 2022, where he was kept exclusively on the balcony. At about one year old, he was rescued by animal rights activists and rehomed in Switzerland. His new owner in Switzerland abused and neglected him. He was confiscated by the police and has now found his new home with us. He's a diamond in the rough with many areas of improvement, but we will help him grow into a well-balanced dog.

Jara & Kari , born in Romania in 2022, are now part of our family. When I started building the Dog Rescue in Sweden, I met the siblings. Their former owners were overwhelmed—insecure, not house-trained, and unable to be left alone, they were supposed to be taken to an animal shelter. But no one wanted to adopt them, partly because of Kari's untreated umbilical hernia. Now they have the chance for a fresh start with me.

Lori came to me completely unexpectedly. I brought four dogs into care—and went home with five.
The little Chihuahua, weighing just 4 kg, was looking for a forever home. Since she fit in so harmoniously with my group, I decided to adopt her. Born in August 2023, she fits perfectly into our pack.

Construction of the kennel hasn't even begun yet, but four Nordic dogs have already moved in in March 2025: Nea (born 2019), Odda (born 2022), Py (born 2022), and Quin (born 2023) came to us in March 2025 from a confiscated animal – scarred by neglect. Until the kennel is completed, they will live with a musher friend, where they will receive species-appropriate care and be given daily sledding sessions. Settling in hasn't been easy, but they're making steady progress.

Emmi , my street dog born in 2010, has been with me since I started my own business. When I was working in animal protection in Greece for three months in 2012, I rescued her from the streets and adopted her. She showed me my way and is now part of the team. Through her, I learned the meaning of honesty, loyalty, and faithfulness, and I have been able to pass this on to many people.

At the turn of the year 2021, a Maremmano bitch came to me in Zermatt, who had already run away from Piedmont in July 2020. How she found her way to Zermatt is unknown, but she found her way to me and straight into my heart. Furi (born 2019) has been part of the team ever since.

Towards the end of 2023, I took in a rescue puppy. Socke (born 2021), a mixed-breed dog from Romania, is now joining the team. My first little dog, weighing just 6 kg. She shows me every day that size doesn't matter and can communicate confidently with all dogs.

Another little whirlwind has been enriching the team since the beginning of March 2024. Henja, born in 2022, also comes from Romania. She's very bright, learns very quickly, and is always up for a laugh. She brings a lot of energy and still has a lot to learn.
Dog Rescue Auktsjaur – our shared passion project
With Dog Rescue Auktsjaur, we have created a place where dogs in need can find peace and a new perspective.
What unites us is our deep love for dogs and the desire to give them a safe, temporary home. While Stefanie contributes her decades of experience in dog training, education, and animal welfare, Tomas, with his calm demeanor, his hunting and dog experience, and his craftsmanship, ensures that our charges lack nothing.
In February 2024, we made the decision to jointly build a Dog Rescue Auktsjaur facility on our property in Sweden. Since then, we've been working side by side – from caring for the dogs and organizing the entire facility to building and maintaining it.
Stefanie Ammann
Dogs have been a part of my life for many years – and since 2013, my professional life as well.
It all started with a small-scale dog-sitting business, which gave me valuable insights into the nature and behavior of dogs. At the same time, I built my own dog training school – the Ammann Dog Center, which I have been running with passion for over ten years.
Since 2021, I have been training dog trainers, puppy trainers, and animal shelter staff throughout Switzerland and accompanying people on their journey into the animal-related profession – in a well-founded, practical way, and with a clear focus on the well-being of the dog.
Animal welfare – my passion. Not a single vacation went by without me spending time in animal shelters or rescue centers – whether in Greece, Colombia, or elsewhere. Everywhere I was able to lend a hand and make a small contribution to helping dogs in need.
The desire to create a safe place for dogs in need grew over the years – until I made the decision in the winter of 2023: I bought a large piece of land in Sweden to bring my passion project to life.
Tomas Renberg
Dog lover, hunter – and practitioner with heart and mind
Tomas is not only my life partner, but also an indispensable part of our everyday life here in the far north. With his calm, clear manner, he supports me daily in caring for our dogs and brings with him a keen sense of their needs.
His close connection with dogs has been with him since childhood. He has been actively hunting with his Swedish Lapphund, Ställa, for six years; before that, he was out hunting with the family dogs. Working with hunting dogs requires trust, timing, and clear communication – qualities that Tomas also brings to his daily work with our rescue dogs.
In addition to his experience with dogs, Tomas is the man for all things handy at Dog Rescue Auktsjaur:
He built the entire facility himself—from fencing the property to building the heated doghouse and sturdy kennels for Nordic dogs that withstand wind, snow, and cold. Whatever needs to be planned, built, or maintained, Tomas ensures that both humans and dogs feel safe and comfortable here.
