ADOPTION

Heiser

Would you like to adopt a dog? If we haven't met in person, placement will only be in Sweden or Switzerland. In Sweden, I handle the preliminary checks myself; in Switzerland, they are handled by my trusted partners.

None of the dogs are transported by plane. They are either picked up personally here in Auktsjaur or transported to their new home by car with a sponsorship.

I have many dogs living with me—some stay forever, others just for an important stage of their lives. One of them is now ready to find happiness and is looking for people who will accompany her with heart, patience, and a sense of responsibility.

Trix – fun-loving senior with a special mission

Trix is a former stray who ended up in a kill shelter shortly before the summer season – simply because they needed to "clean up." I had his noticeable thirst medically checked: He was diagnosed with diabetes insipidus. This means lifelong medication and a regular daily routine. He's well-adjusted, happy, curious, and full of zest for life.

Trix weighs approximately 12 kg – manageable, active, and full of charm. He loves people, is open and sociable, greets everyone warmly, and is full of energy. A home with structure and reliable care is important to him. He needs to go out every three hours – this requires organization, but he rewards you with a genuine zest for life and a deep bond.

Trix is looking for:

  • loving people with plenty of time and organizational talent

  • a home that can take on medical responsibility

  • Patience, humor and a firm place in the heart

Adoption process:

  1. The first contact:
Send us an inquiry by email. Please include your dog's name and your personal information.
The telephone number is very important because I will contact you by phone.

  2. Complete and send the placement questionnaire.

  3. Preliminary check:
This check will take place at your home by appointment.
The idea here is to get to know you personally and find out if the dog is a good fit for you.
The dog will only be rehomed to experienced dog owners. First-time dog owners are not considered.

  4. Protection contract:
Such a contract regulates all essential aspects of keeping the dog and states that you, as the new owner, are offering the four-legged friend a lifetime home. Dog Rescue Auktsjaur always has a right of first refusal on the animal. This serves to protect the dog, preventing it from being traded or sold to third parties, or in the event that you can no longer keep the animal yourself due to a change in your personal circumstances. The contract contains all personal information about the adopter and the dog, the handover date and location, and the amount of the adoption fee.

  5. Taking over the dog:
Once all formalities have been completed, your pet will be prepared for departure to Switzerland. You will receive your pet fully vaccinated and with a valid EU vaccination certificate.

  6. Moving in the dog:
Even after the placement, we are available to answer any questions or problems you may have.
Every new dog owner is required to attend dog training courses offered by partner companies. These courses are listed in the protection contract.

If a dog has to be returned for any reason:
If for any serious reason you are no longer able to care for the animal (which we certainly hope is not the case), we would like to ask you to let us know in good time.

Each of the dogs rehomed has a lifelong right to a place in the Dog Rescue Auktsjaur.
