ABOUT US

About me – Stefanie Ammann
Dogs have been part of my life for many years – and since 2013, my professional life too.
It all started with a small dog daycare business, which gave me valuable insights into the nature and behavior of dogs. At the same time, I built my own dog training school – the Ammann Dog Center, which I have been running with passion for over ten years.
Since 2021, I have been training dog trainers, puppy trainers, and animal shelter staff throughout Switzerland and accompanying people on their path into the animal-related profession – in a well-founded, practical way, and with a clear focus on the well-being of the dog.
Animal welfare – my heart's desire
Not a single vacation went by without me spending time at animal shelters or rescue centers—whether in Greece, Colombia, or elsewhere. Everywhere I was able to lend a hand and make a small contribution to helping dogs in need.
The desire to create a safe place for dogs in need grew over the years – until I made the decision in the winter of 2023: I bought a large piece of land in Sweden to bring my passion project to life.
100% of the proceeds from the training courses go towards the care and support of the rescued dogs here in Sweden.

My dogs:

Emmi, my street dog born in 2011, has been by my side since the very beginning of my self-employment. In 2012, during a three-month stay working in animal welfare in Greece, I rescued her from the streets and adopted her. She showed me my path and has been a part of the team ever since. Through her, I learned the true meaning of honesty, loyalty, and devotion – something I’ve since passed on to many people.
At the turn of the year 2021, a Maremmano sheepdog appeared in Zermatt. She had gone missing from Piedmont back in July 2020. No one knows how she made it all the way to Zermatt, but she found her way straight into my heart. Since then, Furi (born 2019) has also been part of the team.
In October 2022, I adopted an Old German Shepherd who narrowly escaped euthanasia. Two severely damaged hips had led to aggressive behavior toward people and dogs. Gandalf (born 2020) greatly expanded my understanding of behavioral challenges in dogs. After a year of intense work and two new hip joints, I was able to place him with a fellow trainer in Bern.
Addis (born 09.03.2015, † 22.03.2024) was not only the tallest in the group but also the one with the biggest heart. Her journey was long – from Ethiopia to Myanmar, Stockholm, and Paris, before arriving in Zurich, Switzerland. She saw more continents than most people ever will. She left us far too soon, crossing the rainbow bridge at just nine years old. We miss her deeply.
At the end of 2023, I took in a little emergency case. Socke (born 2021), a small mixed-breed dog from Romania, now adds her charm to our team. My first small dog, weighing only 6 kg – she proves every day that size doesn't matter and confidently communicates with every dog here.
Another little whirlwind joined the team in early March 2024. Henja, born in 2022 and also from Romania, is alert, quick to learn, and always up for fun. She brings a lot of energy and still has much to discover.
Iwar came to us unexpectedly. Born in 2022 on Mallorca, he spent his early life confined to a balcony. At around one year old, he was rescued by animal welfare workers and brought to Switzerland. Sadly, his new owner abused and neglected him. He was eventually confiscated by the police and has now found his new home with us. Iwar is a rough diamond with many challenges, but we are committed to helping him grow into a balanced, confident dog.
Jara and Kari, born in 2022 in Romania, are now part of our family. I met the sibling pair while setting up Dog Rescue in Sweden. Their previous owners were overwhelmed – the dogs were insecure, not house-trained, and couldn’t be left alone. They were about to be sent to a shelter, but no one wanted them, partly because Kari had an untreated umbilical hernia. Now they have a fresh start with us.
Lori came to me completely unexpectedly. I was supposed to care for four dogs – and went home with five.
Lori came to me completely unexpectedly. I brought four dogs in for boarding – and went home with five. The little Chihuahua girl, weighing just 4 kg, was looking for a forever home. Since she blended in so harmoniously with my group, I decided to adopt her. Born in August 2023, she fits perfectly into our pack.
Although construction of the kennel facility hasn’t started yet, four Nordic dogs moved in as early as March 2025: Nea (born 2019), Odda (2022), Py (2022), and Quin (2023) came from a confiscation case – marked by scars and severe neglect. Today, they are part of a daily sledding routine covering 18–25 km, which gives them the physical and mental stimulation they need. Until the facility is ready, they live with a trusted neighbor and friend who runs a professional husky farm with guest tours. The adjustment was tough at first, but they are making steady progress and gaining confidence every day.
Ställa (born 2017), my partner’s Jämthund, quietly slipped into our group – and stayed. With her calm, composed nature, she brings stability to the pack. She often remains in the background, but always with a fine sense for the group. She doesn't seek the spotlight – she’s just there. And that’s exactly what makes her so special.
Moro (born 2018) is a little fighter with a big heart – blind in one eye and once a fear-biter. Now he lives safely with us and can finally start over with trust. Every day, he shows us how much courage can be found in a small dog.
Rya (born 2022), our energetic Alaskan dog, loves movement and mental challenges. With her joy and endurance, she brings fresh energy to the team and reminds us how beautiful pure zest for life can be.
Trix (born 2017) came straight from the streets of Spain – and straight into our hearts. Due to his diabetes, no one wanted to adopt him. For us, he’s priceless. With his calm and gentle way, he brings balance and warmth to our pack.
