As a non-profit organisation, Dog Rescue Auktsjaur relies on financial and in-kind donations. Our work is only possible thanks to people who share our values and want to give dogs a chance when they often have nowhere else to turn.

 

Every contribution goes directly towards caring for our dogs, providing veterinary treatment, and maintaining and expanding safe, species-appropriate facilities.

 

Funds raised so far

Thanks to the incredible support we have received, we have raised CHF 20,000 in donations for Dog Rescue Auktsjaur so far. These funds have been used specifically to build and develop our infrastructure.

 

Among other things, this has enabled us to fence large exercise areas and create insulated and heated accommodation as well as spacious kennel facilities.

 

Where we are today

There are currently 28 dogs living at Dog Rescue Auktsjaur:

• 14 dogs live with us in the house.

• 6 dogs live in two dog houses, each with four insulated and heated dog rooms. Each room also has its own private outdoor kennel of approximately 26 m².

• 8 dogs live in four large outdoor kennels, each measuring 36 m².

• In addition, our dogs have access to two fully fenced exercise areas of approximately 5,000 m² each.

 

Having different types of accommodation is an important part of our concept. Due to their history, behaviour or individual needs, many of our dogs cannot simply live in a large group. This allows us to provide each dog with a suitable and safe living environment while still giving them plenty of space to move and exercise.

 

Ongoing costs

Caring for 28 dogs means considerable daily expenses. These include high-quality food, veterinary care, medication, grooming and other supplies, as well as heating, electricity, maintenance and repairs to our buildings and facilities.

 

Veterinary care in particular represents a significant part of our expenses. Many dogs arrive with existing health problems or conditions that have required treatment for some time. Dental treatments, surgery, diagnostic examinations and medication can quickly result in substantial costs.

 

For us, appropriate medical care is just as much a part of animal welfare as high-quality food, sufficient exercise and safe accommodation.

 

Transparency

Transparency in how donations are used is extremely important to us. For this reason, we publish a detailed overview of our expenses to date.

Every donation – large or small – helps us continue to provide a safe place and a genuine second chance for dogs who, because of their age, health or behaviour, often have very few options elsewhere.
